Trumpquake

Do you recall the fantastic novel ‚Ecotopia‘ by Ernest Callenbach (1975 [1], with a sequel in 1981 [2]), in which three western US states drifted into the Pacific Ocean after the long-awaited major earthquake and developed their own way of life?

Given the fascist policies of the White House, it is more than just a guess that such a secession could actually take place due to a devastating Trumpquake. And this time, it could even sweep up more than just three states. In the east, some could ally themselves with Canada, while the states in the west could benefit from the economic superpower of California. The rest would sink into insignificance, and peace would reign.

A potentially gentler secession that of 1860. The 2026 midterm elections will give us an indication.
