There is growing momentum in the US Congress to impeach the President. Lawmakers would do better to impeach the system before it allows another figure like Trump to gain absolute power.

In den 1990er Jahren gehörte ich zu den links-grünen Kritikern der geplanten Umwandlung des Allgemeine Zoll- und Handelsabkommens (GATT, seit 1948) in die Welthandelsorganisation (WTO, ab 1995). Wir befürchteten eine Zunahme der globalen Handelsströme und des von mächtigen Staaten subventionierten Wettbewerbs um tiefe Preise bei gleichzeitiger Verwässerung staatlicher Umwelt- und Sozialnormen. Müsste ich also glücklich sein darüber, dass die USA den Welthandel durch hohe Zölle erschwert? Nein.

The Trump administration claims it is conducting a campaign against drug trafficking from Venezuela [1]. We know that this is not a valid reason for either for the main sources of drugs sold in the United States or for deploying 10,000 troops and the largest aircraft carrier to the Caribbean.
The Trump gang is desperate to get its hands on Venezuela’s rich resources, continuing the long-standing greed of the United States for them. Remember the US policy towards Venezuela after Hugo Chávez was democratically elected president in 1999 and promised to nationalise oil production, which had made the country one of the largest producer, and to distribute the revenues to the people. Remember also what the CIA and its British partner MI6 did in Iran in 1953 after its democratic government decided to nationalise oil.
